SES—CAREER SUCCESS
DORI 0100 College Success Skills (0-2-1)
This course is designed to examine the roles and positive adjustments students must incorporate to become successful in college. Topics covered include: study and test-taking skills, critical thinking, memory, reading, and note taking skills; self-analysis and self-discipline, a review of college procedures and policies; and the development of an enthusiasm for learning.
 
DORI 0300 Career and Life Skills (2-3-3)
This course is designed to assist students in the development of career and personal growth skills that will aid them in a successful college experience as well as quality of life. Through small group sessions students will be introduced to and have an opportunity to practice career and personal growth skills. Specific topics covered include: self-analysis and self-discipline, developing a positive self-image, goal setting (academic and personal), relationship skills (e.g. intra/interpersonal skills), career planning, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and wellness and stress management.
 
SES—MATHEMATICS
DMTH 0050 Basic Mathematics and Geometry (3-1-3)
The purpose of this course is to provide a review of the fundamentals of mathematics by stressing practical applications. It includes the concepts of whole numbers, number theory, fractions, decimals, percents, English measures, scientific notation and the metric system. The geometry includes
angles, lines and geometric figures, plane geometric figures, area volume, the Pythagorea Theorem and similar and congruent triangles. Prerequisite: Placement determined by MATH placement test. (Developmental/No college credit granted).
 
DMTH 0090 Math TASP Review (0-2-1)
A course designed to allow students who have exhausted other options for TASP remediation a setting in which they can continue preparing for the TASP, focusing on math deficiencies. Prerequisite: DMTH 0200. (Developmental/No college credit granted).
 
DMTH 0100 Introductory Algebra II (3-1-3)
This course is an introduction to algebra that covers real numbers, solving linear equations and inequalities, formulas and applications of Algebra, exponents, polynomials, and additional applications, factoring and rational expressions and equations. Designed to allow students who have exhausted other options for TASP remediation a setting in which they can continue preparing for the TASP test, focusing on math deficiencies. Prerequisites: DMTH 0050 or equivalent as
determined by MATH placement test. (Developmental/No college credit granted).
 
DMTH 0200 Intermediate Algebra (3-1-3)
The purpose of this course is to prepare students for TASP and to expand the concepts of algebra. Topics of preparation include llinear equations, exponents and radicals, nonlinear equations in one variable, inequalities in one variable, equations in mone than one variable, systems of equations, the Parabola and functions. Prerequisite: DMTH 0100 or equivalent as determined by MATH placement test. (Developmental/No college credit granted).

READ 0050 Basic Reading Skills (3-1-3) [3201085235]
A self-paced, individualized course that consists of fundamental reading and critical thinking skills. Diagnostic instruments determine appropriate placement into leveled material. Students work independently and/or in small groups through guided instruction. Independent lab study reinforces the lecture component. Students must demonstrate skill competencies and a minimum reading level in order to complete this course. Entry by TASP Test reading placement score, CPT reading placement score, diagnostic reading score, or referral of the counseling staff. Developmental/ No college credit granted).
 
READ 0100 College Preparatory Reading I (3-1-3) 3201085235
An introductory course that is designed to prepare students to meet entry-level reading requirements
for certificate and associate degree programs. Course objectives include development and/or refinement in study techniques, vocabulary, literal comprehension, and limited exposure to topics in interpretive and evaluative comprehension. Independent lab study reinforces the lecture component.
Prerequisite: Entry by TASP Test reading placement score, CPT reading placement score, diagnostic reading score, referral of the counseling staff, or completion of READ 0050. (Developmental/No college credit granted).
 
READ 0200 College Preparatory Reading II (3-1-3) 3201085235
An intermediate course that is designed to meet entry-level reading requirements for certificate and
associate degree programs. Course objectives emphasize skill development and/or refinement in vocabulary; application of study skills to reading assignments; and extensive exposure to topics in literal, interpretive, and evaluative comprehension. Independent lab study reinforces the lecture
component. Prerequisite: Entry by TASP Test reading placement score, CPT reading placement score, diagnostic reading score, referral of the counseling staff, or completion of READ 0100. (Developmental/No college credit granted).
 
READ 0090 Reading TASP Review (0-2-1) 3201085235
A course designed for those students who have not passed the reading portion of the TASP Test. An intensive review of the reading TASP Test objectives with focus on individual needs through a multi-delivery instructional approach. Prerequisite: READ 0200 (Developmental/No college credit granted).

WRIT 0050 Basic Writing Skills (3-1-3) [3201085135]
A self-paced, individualized course that consists of fundamental writing, spelling, listening, and speaking skills. Students work independently and/or in small groups through guided instruction. Students must demonstrate skill competencies in order to complete the course. Prerequisite: Writing placement test (Developmental/No college credit granted).
 
WRIT 0100 Writing Skills I (3-1-3) [3201085135]
An introductory course designed to instruct students in essential written communication skills. It includes studies in the sentence and its parts, punctuation, capitalization, the parts of speech, spelling, and language usage. Prerequisite: Writing placement test. (Developmental/No college credit
granted).
 
WRIT 0200 Writing Skills II (3-1-3) [3201085135]
A review of grammar and mechanical skills, with an emphasis on developing, organizing, and revising paragraphs and essays. Prerequisite: WRIT 0100 or equivalent as determined by the Writing placement test. (Developmental/No college credit granted).
 
WRIT 0090 Writing TASP Review (0-2-1)
An intensive review of writing for students who have not passed the writing portion of the TASP Test. Instruction is focused on mechanics review and writing assignments. Prerequisite: WRIT 0200. (Developmental/No college credit granted).
