Career Outlook

Roles & Responsibilities:
Working in the construction field means adapting to variety of tasks. Entry-level workers may begin as a builder's apprentice, progressing to higher levels with experience, such as site manager, field supervisor, and superintendent. Responsibilities could entail anything from overseeing inspections and coordinating paperwork, to preparing budgets or interacting with subcontractors.

Employers want technicians who:
  • have problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • read specs and blueprints;
  • interact well with others;
  • effectively follow instructions; and
  • are safety-conscious.

Industry Standards:
Graduates also will have the competitive advantage of industry accreditation from the National Center for Construction Education and Research, a standard employers look for in new hires.
