Salaries & Advancement:
Salaries can vary widely, depending on location. Graduates of the Medical Imaging Systems program secure excellent career positions with starting salaries ranging from $30,000 to $40,000 per year. With two years of professional experience, graduates can increase their earnings by $2,000 a year or more..
 
The Technical Advantage:
TSTC students develop their skills using many types of equipment and software specific to the biomedical industry, including:
  • A computerized tomography, or CT scanner;
  • X-ray units;
  • Ultrasound systems;
  • Mammogram machines;
  • Medical equipment management software;
  • CT scan operating software;
  • Dynalazers;
  • High voltage bleeders;
  • Non-invasive X-ray quality control and calibration test equipment;
  • Oscilloscopes;
  • Digital and analog meters;
  • CT and X-ray phantoms;
  • Soldering irons;
  • Light meters; and a variety of power tools and hand tools.
Technicians in Demand:
TSTC Medical Imaging Systems Technology program graduates can look forward to outstanding career opportunities worldwide in rural or urban areas with hospitals and clinics or as service representatives for equipment manufacturers.
 
Professional Associations:
Students in the MIT program have access to established professionals through the program's Advisory Committee and other industry contacts. As professionals in the field, graduates can become active in organizations such as the North Texas Biomedical Association or the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation.
