Salaries & Advancement:
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that pharmacy technicians earned a median annual salary of more than $18,400 in 1998. Higher-end earnings ranged from over $22,000 to $26,000-plus. With experience and certification, successful technicians can increase their salaries and status in the field.

The Technical Advantage:
Students in TSTC's Pharmacy Technician use a variety of specific instruments and software to develop the skills and knowledge needed in the pharmaceutical field, such as:
  • Standard laboratory glassware;
  • Patient profiling software programs; and
  • Pharmaceutical inventory programs.
Technicians in Demand:
Pharmacy Technician graduates can look forward to many career opportunities throughout the United States with retail pharmacies, grocery stores, department stores and mass merchandising operations. Additional opportunities lie in hospitals, private and public clinics, drug store chains and government agencies.

Professional Associations:
Students in TSTC's Chemical/Environmental Laboratory Technology programs gain exposure to industry professionals through the program's advisory committee, which consists of company representatives who work in many pharmacies and pharmacy-related companies. The American Society of Health System Pharmacists and the Texas Pharmaceutical Association provide additional networking opportunities.
