Job opportunities for full-time pharmacy technicians, especially for those
with formal training, are good. The U.S. Department of Labor's
Occupational
Outlook Handbook 2008-09 edition indicates employment of pharmacy
technicians is expected to increase by 32 percent through 2016. Fully 71
percent of all jobs are available in retail pharmacies, grocery stores,
department stores or mass retailers, with salaries averaging $28,500
annually as of May 2008. Wages vary by location and employer and increase
with experience.
