Roles & Responsibilities:
CNS graduates have a wide array of job responsibilities. In the field, the CNS graduate may install and maintain networks, install and administer network servers, support network users and even monitor and maintain network security.

Graduates of the program hold jobs with titles such as network administrator, network technician, computer or network support specialist, help-desk or system administrator and network consultant.

 
Employers want computer technicians who can:
  • Troubleshoot network and computer problems;
  • Retrain themselves to adapt to new networking technologies as they emerge;
  • Produce quality work using their acquired knowledge and skills;
  • Use resources to locate and apply information applicable to the job at hand; and
  • Administer to clients' and network users' needs.
Industry Standards:
In addition to holding a degree from TSTC, graduates can build skills and credibility in the job market by earning industry certifications. Among the credentials offered through various organizations are Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Office User Specialist, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Novell's Certified Netware Engineer and Cisco Certified Network Associate. The Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP) offers additional credentials, as well.
