CST graduates have a wide range of careers choices in today's market, as
nearly every type of business needs software engineers, computer programmers
and developers.
Salaries are excellent, too, especially as you gain experience. While
entry-level salaries are usually lower, the May 2008 data from the U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates there were approximately 36,000
computer programmers employed in Texas, earning an average annual salary of
$77,540. Nationally, there were nearly 400,000 working in the field.
Software engineers made even higher wages, and the industry employed some
494,160 nationally and 33,480 in Texas.
