| Computer Science Technology is housed in the JCTC ( John Connally Technology Center ) Building. Our classrooms and labs are located on the first floor, and our offices are located on the second floor.
The eight classrooms/labs we occupy contain approximately 185 computers/servers for use by the students. Computers range from the 386 that are used as dumb terminals for mainframe courses such as COBOL and CICS to the Intel Petium III that are used as servers for database administration. All workstations are connected to the campus-wide network for student access and almost unlimited computer resources.
CST servers, the mainframe system with IBM printer, and the AS/400 system are located in the mechanical room also located on the first floor. We currently have two Windows 2000 Servers running on Intel as well as a HTTP Server, SQL Server, and Oracle Server.
The Mainframe system is an IBM ES-9000 multi-user system running on the OS/390 operating system. The system is used for DB2, DBMS, COBOL, C, CICS, and Assembler languages. Up to 150 users can connect to the system concurrently.
The AS/400 system is an eServer iSeries model 170e. It is a multi-user system and runs on state of the art SO I technology. The system is used for RPG/400, RPG IV, COBOL/400, Java, Lotus Domino, and Websphere. |
