The John Deere Construction & Forestry Technician Program is a dealer-sponsored program where the John Deere dealer and Texas State Technical College Waco have entered a partnership to provide the John Deere dealerships with qualified technicians. This program is an excellent opportunity for a person who is interested in entering the field to obtain employment with a well-established employer who distributes and maintains John Deere construction and forestry equipment.

The first year of the two-year program will be spent in classes designed to teach the operational concepts of diesel engines, power trains, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems, air conditioning and shop procedures and safety.

The summer term between the first and second year will consist of on the job experience provided by the sponsoring dealership where you will work along side experienced John Deere technicians with day-to- day operations in the dealership. The second year training contains course work designed by John Deere concentrating on the specific John Deere product line. Also included are engine tune-up and troubleshooting, crawler undercarriages, hydrostatic transmissions and failure analysis.
