Agriculture Equipment Certificate

... A specialization in Diesel Equipment Technology

Today's agriculture is a high-speed, high-tech business. As the world's population mushrooms, more advanced agriculture equipment helps meet the expanding demand for food. Diesel powers the nation's heavy vehicles and equipment, including the array of agriculture equipment in use today. Diesel mechanics sustain that power with complex skills and respected knowledge ... qualities that pay excellent salaries and offer outstanding benefits. The vast use of highly advanced pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic systems in modern agriculture equipment is creating an expanding demand for quality-trained technicians to keep today's farmers and ranchers on top in the business world.

According to the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas is the second largest agricultural-producing state in the United States with sales totaling almost $13.3 billion.

Agriculture has played a central role in the nation's economy throughout its history, and the field continues to offer outstanding career opportunities for skilled individuals.

At Texas State Technical College , the Diesel Equipment Technology (DET) program offers Agriculture Equipment to prepare individuals for high-paying careers in this growing industry. The DET program also offers specializations in Construction Equipment, Heavy Truck, Outdoor Power Equipment, John Deere Construction & Forestry and Caterpillar Dealer Prep Program.

The DET program is unique from other two-year diesel programs because of the industry contacts and training equipment. TSTC faculty members work closely with related diesel industries to develop curriculum that meets the workforce demands. TSTC also provides training and experience on the latest equipment available. In addition, the Diesel Equipment Technology program at TSTC offers one of only two programs in Texas certified by NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation).
