External Resource Development (ERD) Office offers three grant-related
training
courses targeting successful proposal development and post-award contract
management. These courses
–
and resources associated with each one – will be posted at this
location. Look for this part of
our
website to expand significantly during the coming months as we add as many
resources as possible for faculty and staff involved in grant funded
projects. Through a partnership with
TSTC’s

Grants 101: Proposal Design
and
Development
This
five-hour course provides an overview of proposal development, for
individuals
or departments interested in pursuing grant funds. Course topics include what grants
typically fund, proposal elements, TSTC’s unique strengths, the role
of
the Principal Investigator (PI) and/or Project Manager, the role of ERD
staff,
and potential problems in grant development. Follow-up to course participation
includes tracking and support of proposal ideas and integration with the
college’s priorities for the pursuit of external funding. Please click

Grants 102: Managing Life in
the Post-Award World
This
course is designed for faculty and staff serving as PI’s or Project
Managers as well as their administrative assistants
or
secretaries. The course will
cover
the following post-award essentials such as meeting deliverables,
maintaining
the grant timeline, required reporting, budget oversight, procurement,
documentation, and so forth. The
course will include information on TSTC policy and procedures, federal OMB
guidelines, and state law related to particular funding streams. Examples from existing funded
programs
will be included in the training.

Grants 103: Grant-Specific
Individualized Instruction
This
course is a grant-specific training offered by the External Resource
Department. The course is a one-on-one half-day
meeting for grant recipients, their departmental supervisors, and their
administrative support staff.
Training consists of a detailed overview of the award document, along
with instructions on compliance that are specific to the individual grant
award
and funding stream. Grants 103
sessions will be scheduled individually.
