Salaries & Advancement:
According to data from past graduates, advisory committee members and industry, graduates of this program earn starting salaries ranging from $20,000 to $30,000 per year. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figures indicate earnings for diesel mechanics and service technicians at a median of $29,348 and ranging up to $43,222. With experience, graduates can earn higher salaries and advance to lead technicians, shop foremen, service managers, training supervisors, company managers and owners.

  • Computerized engine testing equipment; and

TSTC students can gain exposure to industry and established professionals through involvement in organizations such as SkillsUSA VICA and professional contacts in the Texas Farm Bureau, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS), Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
