Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Food Service/Culinary Arts graduate, you can expect an exciting career filled with flexibility and professional rewards. FSC graduates have responsibilities ranging from menu planning, nutrition, scheduling, sanitation and safety. As a graduate of the program, you may hold titles such as cook, sous chef, kitchen supervisor, production supervisor, assistant manager, manager trainee, food and beverage director or baker.
 
Employers want technicians who can:
  • Exhibit quick problem-solving skills;
  • Work flexible schedules;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers and coworkers; and
  • Provide direction and leadership in a team environment.
 
Industry Standards:
In addition to obtaining a degree or certificate from TSTC, graduates gain credibility in the job market with nation-wide industry certifications. Food Service/Culinary Arts graduates can earn ServSafe sanitarian certification from the NRA Educational Foundation and other certifications specific to the industry.
 
Other Certifications Graduates May Earn:
Graduates with extensive experience can also establish “working certification” higher credentials with ACF designations such as Certified Executive Chef and Certified Executive Pastry Chef.
