Job Placement

Salaries & Advancement:
The May 2008 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates average annual salaries for survey and mapping technicians is $37,500. In Texas, the average salary was $32,240. With experience and additional training, those in the industry can earn salaries of $55,980 annually as surveyors.

Technicians in Demand:
Overall industry employment is expected to increase by 21 percent through 2016, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. And jobs are plentiful in Texas, as Midland and Tyler have the highest concentration of workers in a metropolitan area in the entire United States, according to the BLS. Surveying jobs are always available in growing cities.
