Roles & Responsibilities:
Graduates of the GLM program hold a variety of positions, from golf course superintendent to landscape foreman. These specialized professionals also have a range of responsibilities, from developing low-maintenance landscaping and irrigation systems for industrial facilities to renovating and grooming athletic fields, from installing low-water-usage sprinkler systems to preparing pro-level golf courses for national tournaments, just to name a few.
 
Employers want GLM technicians who can:
  • Skillfully apply techniques to maximize benefits from landscaping, irrigation, pest control and turfgrass management;
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity skills and strength;
  • Develop knowledge as the industry changes;
  • Communicate professionally orally and in writing;
  • Work alone and as team members; and
  • Understand and comply with complex environmental regulations.
Industry Standards:
TSTC graduates can gain credibility and earnings with industry certifications, such as those administered by the PGMS, GCSA, TTA and ALCA.
