Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Facilities Engineering and Management Technology graduate, your job responsibilities could entail operating and maintaining the mechanical and electrical systems within industrial, commercial and healthcare facilities; managing a team of Management personnel; and working with architects, engineers and contractors on facility designs and modifications.

Facilities Engineering and Management Technology graduates hold titles including Facilities Engineer, Building Engineer, Facilities Management Technician, Management Supervisor, Director of Engineering, Director of Plant Operations, Director of Management and Management Manager.

 
Employers want technicians who can:
  • Understand the workings of a modern facility;
  • Interpret building plans;
  • Work as team members and accept responsibility;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively;
  • Adapt to change; and
  • Work in accordance with safety guidelines.
 
Industry Standards:
In addition to holding a degree from TSTC, graduates can gain credibility in the job market with industry certifications.

Graduates can earn Environmental Protection Agency certification to work with refrigerants as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. TSTC's Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology department offers this certification.

With industry experience, graduates can also build their credentials with the AFE's Certified Plant Engineers designation, which can lead to promotions, pay raises and advanced career opportunities.
