The “global economy” has made international competition in manufacturing of goods and services a challenging fact for the citizens of Texas . Technicians will need more education and training in order to keep pace, both with the development of ever more sophisticated machining equipment and computerized controls, and with the almost constant introduction of newer materials being used by industry.
The Plastics Specialization in the Mechanical Engineering Department focuses on the skills needed in the rapidly growing polymer industries in Texas and the United States. MET offers a unique instructional approach that combines manufacturing methods and processes with engineering mechanics and design. As a graduate of the Plastics Specialization, you'll be at the leading edge of an explosion of new technologies related to improving product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
