With today’s vehicles growing more electronically advanced and computerized, the automotive industry requires technicians with specialized education and skills. Technicians need advanced training and abilities.
The Automotive Technology program at Texas State Technical College Waco is offering the MOPAR College Automotive Program (CAP) specialization through a partnership between Chrysler Group, LLC and TSTC Waco. The MCAP automotive program is designed to upgrade the technical competency and professionalism of the incoming dealership technician. The curriculum, designed by Chrysler and TSTC Waco, provides hands-on training on the latest vehicles, components and instructional materials utilizing high-tech diagnostic equipment.
In addition to your college training, you’ll also earn while you learn as an intern at a participating Chrysler, Dodge, RAM, SRT, Fiat or Jeep dealership, where you’ll get on-site training under the direction of master technicians. You’ll not only learn about repair procedures for Chrysler vehicles, but also dealership service operations.
The Automotive Technology program, ranked the leader in post-secondary automotive education, features approximately $3 million worth of the latest equipment and laboratories. The program also offers National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation certification and instructors certified by Automotive Service Excellence. CurriculumAssociate of Applied Science Degree Program: Upon successful completion of the curriculum, you will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology’s MCAP specialization. A full-time, academically prepared student can complete the program in about two years.
Requirements for acceptance into the MOPAR CAP:
- Must have submitted a completed TSTC MCAP application prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
- Must be a licensed driver and be insurable by a Chrysler dealership.
- Must be sponsored by a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealership. Dealerships may require driving record checks, drug testing and/or background checks prior to agreeing to sponsorship.
- Must be academically qualified for the Associate of Applied Science curriculum. Students requiring remedial studies may be accepted on a contingency basis.
