Thank you for inquiring about our Avionics Technology. Texas State Technical College Waco offers two options of training. The first option is a one-year Flight-line Maintenance Certificate program where students learn avionics systems and integration, installation techniques, as well as in-aircraft testing and troubleshooting methods. Students in this specialization are trained to work on aircraft testing and troubleshooting avionics systems. We also offer a two-year avionics degree plan. These students take the same courses as those in the certificate program plus an additional year of courses in advanced Avionics troubleshooting. These additional courses train students how to perform component level repairs on the avionics systems. TSTC designed this program to prepare graduates for an entry-level bench technician position with any avionics service-company.
TSTC Waco is the only college in the state of Texas and one of only 10 nationwide in which the Federal Aviation Administration has approved its facilities as a Certified Repair Station with Radio Ratings. Students receive training in an actual working Avionics Repair Facility instead of a simulated classroom environment. We are excited about our classrooms and laboratories, and we are aggressively adding to our programs' capabilities on a continuing basis. TSTC Waco's avionics labs, which contain over a half million dollars worth of avionics radios and test equipment, offers you the hands-on training you need to begin your career as an avionics technician.
You may start the program any semester. If you have prior college credits you may be able to transfer some courses into the associate program. Academic advisors will be happy to meet with you to discuss a degree plan for your particular situation.
We extend an invitation to you and your family to visit our program weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special arrangements can be made to meet with you on the weekend if you will call and make arrangements in advance. We look forward to visiting with you.
