Medical Imaging Systems Technology Associate Degree
TSTC's Medical Imaging Systems Technology program, developed at the request of hospital personnel and biomedical equipment manufacturers, offers the nation's first Associate of Applied Science degree specializing in X-ray, ultrasound, CT equipment, computerized tomography, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As a graduate, you can work to repair and maintain this vital medical equipment and enjoy excellent wages while doing it.
The medical equipment repair sector is projected by the U.S. Department of Labor to increase 31 percent through 2020 — much faster than the average for all occupations — as a result of increased demand for medical services and the increasing complexity of equipment. This bodes a bright future with lots of opportunties for trained technicians.
To ensure they have a competitive advantage upon graduation, students receive hands-on training using cutting-edge, industry-standard equipment, such as a GE CIT High Speed Single Slice Scanner, valued at approximately $100,000. Students in the program get lots of lab time so that they are work-ready when they hit the market.
