Welcome to Computer Science Technology (CST) at Texas State Technical College Waco. CST has been part of TSTC Waco for more than 30 years, with a long history of successful graduates. In fact, our graduate placement rate has been 90 percent or better for the past 12 years.

CST offers two Associate of Applied Science degrees: Business Application Programming and Graphics, Gaming & Simulation Programming; as well as an Advanced Technical Certificate of Completion in Mobile Applications Programming.

Students in CST learn a variety of programming languages and database management systems. Languages currently taught in one or more of the specializations include C++, Visual Basic, COBOL, RPG, Oracle SQL & PL/SQL, and Java. Databases used in the various specializations include IBM DB2, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server. Operating systems currently in use include Windows 2000 Server, Solaris Unix, OS/400, and OS/390.

The Graphics, Gaming & Simulation Programming specialization features C++ as the primary programming language, and includes courses in Graphics Programming, Multi-user Interface Programming, OpenGL, Data Structures, DirectX and Artificial Intelligence. Students in this specialization complete their studies with a final project, in which they prepare a portfolio of their work to present to prospective employers.

The Advanced Technical Certificate in Mobile Applications Programming is specifically for the development of iOS platforms such as the iPad or iPhone. Students learn to develop useful business applications designed for personal use, including building an interface for an insurance company or bank, developing an app to assist with math and much more. Students must have prior programming experience to take this two-semester, 16-credit program.

If you like logical thinking, problem solving and designing your own solutions for the business world, or if you like programming for games and graphical simulations, Computer Science Technology is the place to be.
