Welcome to the Computer Science Technology at Texas State Technical College Waco. CST has been part of TSTC Waco for more than 30 years, with a long history of successful graduates. Software development has changed considerably during our history, and CST has kept pace by using technology that is current and in demand by industry. One thing that has not changed in CST is our graduate placement rate, which has been 90 percent or better for the past 12 years.

Computer Science Technology offers diversity in curriculum including Associate of Applied Science degrees in several specializations, including Mainframe Systems (our core curriculum), Client/Server Systems, Unix/C++ Programming, and Graphics, Gaming and Simulation Programming. CST also offers a Certificate of Completion in Oracle Application Development.

Students in CST learn a variety of programming languages and database management systems. Languages currently taught in one or more of the specializations include C++, Visual Basic, COBOL, RPG, Oracle SQL & PL/SQL, and Java. Databases used in the various specializations include IBM DB2, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server. Operating systems currently in use include Windows 2000 Server, Solaris Unix, OS/400, and OS/390.

The Graphics, Gaming and Simulation Programming specialization features C++ as the primary programming language, and includes courses in Graphics Programming, Multi-user Interface Programming, OpenGL, Data Structures, DirectX and Artificial Intelligence. Students in this specialization complete their studies with a final project, in which they prepare a portfolio of their work to present to prospective employers.

If you like logical thinking, problem solving, and designing your own solutions for the business world, or if you like programming for games and graphical simulations, Computer Science Technology is the place to be.
