TSTC Advantage

Male student practices surveying. The Great Pyramid of Giza has a base that covers more than 13 acres. Its volume is around 90,000,000 cubic feet, and it was thought to have been erected around 2600 BC. And it was built with the help of surveying techniques.

Today, land surveying is still very much in demand, as countless industries depend upon surveyors — especially as technology continues to advance the profession. Computers, satellites and other forms of technology continue to change the industry, creating a strong demand for skilled, trained professionals.

Texas State Technical College can give you the education and training you need to become a professional land surveyor. The Industrial Systems & Engineering Technology offers a Land Surveying associate degree and certificate program that can put you on a path to a successful career.

Students will learn everything from Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to Geodetic Surveying and Mapping. At TSTC, you get enhanced instruction and hands-on experience that surveying specialists need to lead the industry pack.

With intensive coursework in subject areas such as plane surveying, boundary analysis, computer-aided mapping and more, the Land Surveying Technology can help you plot your path to an exciting, successful career.

Faculty

Instructors in the Land Surveying program have extensive skills and knowledge of this area of study.  TSTC makes sure our instructors have experience not only in the classroom but in the field as well because we know the importance of having seasoned veterans when it comes to getting you ready for the real world work experience. It’s our goal to give you the best teachers around who have inside knowledge of the industry demands and functions.

Small class size

At TSTC, our Land Surveying classes are taught face to face and average just 10 students per class to ensure instructors have plenty of time to work with their students individually. At TSTC, we appreciate that all of our students are different. Not everyone learns the same way or at the same speed. Our instructors are aware of these diversities and are willing to do whatever it takes to guide individuals through the learning process at their own pace.

Hands-on learning

At TSTC we place a strong emphasis on hands-on learning whenever possible. You’ll be putting your elbow grease to the test in this program. We make sure you have every opportunity to get your hands dirty with the equipment you’ll use on the job before you ever leave the classroom. We want you to feel experienced and comfortable with the tools you’ll be working with in the industry.

Advisory Committee

TSTC’s strong programs match industry needs, making it easier for graduates to obtain jobs when the time comes to move out into the workforce.

As industry professionals, our advisory committees assist the college in determining the courses you study, providing a valuable advantage.
