TSTC Advantage

Photo of TSTC student working in the Mechanical Engineering lab.As the largest provider of two-year technical education in Texas, TSTC has a proven track record of training graduates to meet industry standards.

Because your hands-on training utilizes some of the most advanced machinery and the latest software in the business, you will easily step into a new position with confidence and ease.

The combination of hands-on laboratory training, internship opportunities and a curriculum guided by industry advisors ensures you get the best possible training that puts you ahead of the typical job seeker.

What you’ll do!

  • Learn CAD/CAM and all the latest industry software

  • Design products, create prototypes, test materials and program computers for Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines and operations.

  • Gain actual work experience through internships and co-ops.

  • Spend more time in laboratory settings and less in classroom lectures.

TSTC’s star power prep

  • Five semesters of intensive hands-on training.

  • High-tech training with the actual tools and equipment used by industry.

  • Small class size with a strong one-on-one instructional approach.

  • Experienced staff with industry training guided by an advisory board comprised of Mechanical Engineering field experts.

TSTC’s faculty members bring to the college years of professional experience in their respective fields. Having worked in the business themselves, they know just what an employer is seeking and how to keep students on track to perform well in those capacities.

Small class size

At TSTC, our Mechanical Engineering classes average 20 students per class to ensure instructors have plenty of time to work with each student.

Hands-on learning

Compared to other colleges, TSTC students spend less time in the classroom and much more time in work settings, operating the instruments they will use in the Mechanical Engineering field. Students are engaged more than 60 percent of their time in performing the actual work they will do upon graduation from college. It’s just one of the many ways TSTC ensures you get the depth of instruction you need to succeed in your career.

Advisory Committee - education by employer design!

As industry professionals, our advisory committees assist the college in determining the courses you study, providing a valuable advantage. They help to ensure that what we teach correlates to what industry is seeking. TSTC’s strong Mechanical Engineering program matches industry needs, making it easier for students to obtain jobs upon graduation.

Added Value

Through a unique partnership with HAAS Automation, MET has established a regional training facility that enhances the learning experience. In this facility, you can learn Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) programming and operations.

After graduation, you can gain even more credibility by earning industry certifications such as those offered by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies. The voluntary certification program combines written exams in over 30 specialties with specific job-related experience requirements, all of which can enhance your resume and polish your skills.
