Helping students achieve their educational dreams with quality academic skills assessment!

We want you to be successful in your college courses, so your college placement test is an important first step for you.  Administered by TSTC’s Center for Assessment, the placement test will assess your current skill levels in Reading, Writing, and Math.  Once you know where you are now, then you can enroll in the right courses to build on your current skills.  

Your placement test scores will determine which courses and technical programs you may enroll in at TSTC.  You must complete placement testing before registering for classes.
However, if you are a returning or transfer student, check with a Success Coach about whether or not you need to take (or retake) one or more parts of the placement test. Also, students with qualifying SAT, ACT, or TAKS scores may be exempt from placement testing. Again, check with a Success Coach to confirm any possible exemptions.

Tests accepted by TSTC for academic placement include Accuplacer, Asset, Compass, and THEA.  Please see our Center for Assessment web page for details (insert link to web page).

Before you take the placement test, take time to refresh your Reading, Writing, and Math skills so that you can do your very best on the test.
