CONSTITUTION

of the

TEXAS STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE - WACO

STAFF SENATE

Preamble

Whereas, the TSTC Staff performs services and support functions which are vital to the success of TSTC Waco in meeting the goals and objectives of the College, the Staff members hold critical front line roles within the technical educational environment, and a representative Staff association is needed to provide a common voice on items of interest and function to staff roles within the College, it is therefore resolved to create and empower, at the pleasure of the TSTC System Board of Regents, the TSTC Waco Staff Senate to advise, consult, be consulted with, and participate in the development and advocation of policies, planning, and staffing which affect TSTC Waco staff employees.

ARTICLE I - Name
The name of the organization is the Texas State Technical College Waco Staff Senate.

ARTICLE II - Duration
The period of its duration is perpetual at the pleasure of the TSTC System Board of Regents.

ARTICLE III - Purpose
The purposes for which the TSTC Waco Staff Senate is organized are: To provide a forum for information exchange among members, to keep channels of communication open between members and administrators, to increase public awareness of TSTC Waco, to assist in meeting the overall mission and objectives of TSTC Waco, and to generally promote the college.

ARTICLE IV - Members
The minimum number of members which the TSTC Waco Staff Senate shall have is eleven (11) persons.

ARTICLE V - Commencement
The TSTC Waco Staff Senate will not commence business until it has received approval of its existence from the TSTC System Board of Regents and completed any other items necessary for compliance with the laws of the State of Texas.

ARTICLE VI - Address
The street address of the TSTC Waco Staff Senate is 3801 Campus Drive, Waco, Texas 76705.

ARTICLE VII - Dissolvement
The existence of the TSTC Waco Staff Senate may be dissolved by the TSTC System Board of Regents or by the same manner it is amended. If dissolved, the assets of the TSTC Waco Staff Senate shall be donated to Texas State Technical College - Waco, 3801 Campus Drive, Waco, Texas 76705.

ARTICLE VIII - Indemnification
All Officers and Directors of the TSTC Waco Staff Senate shall be indemnified by the TSTC Waco Staff Senate for any action taken within the scope of their position as long as they are in furtherance of TSTC Waco Staff Senate goals and their acts do not involve intentional wrong-doing or illegal conduct.

ARTICLE IX - Amendments
This constitution can be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of all members.

ARTICLE X - Disclaimer
This constitution does not constitute an employment contract or create a property or liberty interest for the TSTC Waco Staff Senate or any individual member.
