| | ![]() | Curriculum & Changing Programs When registering for your classes, only register for ones that are in your degree plan. The VA only pays for required courses in the degree plan. The only way a course can be taken that is not in your degree plan is if it will substitute for a required course. In this case, a completed substitution form will need to be provided to the Veteran Certification Officer as soon as possible. Class AttendanceEach month, the last day of the month, attendance verification is required of veterans receiving Chapter 30 and Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill. In order to save time you may verify online at www.gibill.va.gov and then click on WAVE or call (877) 823-2378 to report attendance. The attendance verification is what generates your check while you are in school. Changing ProgramsA change of program is a change of objective, which generally requires a change of the courses required to attain the new objective. Also, a change resulting in a material loss of credit or in an extension of time needed to complete the objective is considered to be a change of program. Whether or not this constitutes a change of program is a decision made by the Veterans Administration. The student would need to complete the proper VA form when changing programs or options in a program and submit them for processing. Previous training must be reviewed and furnished to the Certification Officer for reporting to the Veterans Administration.
