Hazlewood Act: Have you exhausted your educational benefits? Then the Hazlewood Act may be just what you need.
The Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption, including most fee charges, at public institutions of higher education in Texas. This does NOT include living expenses, books or supply fees.
Application forms include:
o HE-V App Packet for Veterans
o HE-D App Packet for Children and Spouse of Eligible Veterans
1. Veteran’s DD214
2. Dependent Child’s Birth Certificate (or adoption papers)
3. Proof of Online Registration (veteran and child): https://www1.thecb.state.tx.us/apps/hsh/students/ (Register, then Login and print screen)

NOTE: Students need to apply for this benefit every semester. Applications need to be submitted at least two weeks before the first class day of the intended semester. Hazlewood applications will NOT be accepted after the payment due date for that semester.
