Salaries & Advancement:
Computer systems design and related services remains one of the 20 fastest growing industries in the nation, according to 2008 data from the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. And AGIA, the professional association for design, indicated in its July 2009 quarterly index that "professional leaders have not been this confident about conditions in the design economy since October 2007."

That's good news for Web designers, developers and programmers, who can make excellent wages in the field. AGIA's Aquent Survey of Design Salaries 2009 indicates average annual salary/wages in 2008 for Web Designers were $54,000; for Web Programmers, it was $65,000, and for Web Developers, $60,000. Salaries will vary, of course, by location, employer and experience, and entry-level wages are typically lower.
