Career Rx: Take three (semesters) and you’re good to go.
If a prescription of variety was ordered, your job as a pharmacy tech is ready.
Much more than slinging
pills to pay your bills.
Let’s face it, people in the U.S. are living longer and those baby-boomers are graying. Coupled with the advances we’ve seen in science and medicine, there are more opportunities for skilled Pharmacy Technicians. Texas employs the second highest number of Pharmacy Technicians in the country and demand continues to grow. Working under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, you could work in hospitals, retail pharmacies, home health, long-term facilities and clinic pharmacies.
The program features intense classroom and laboratory instruction during which you learn to count, weigh, measure, mix and compound medication. The curriculum will prepare you for the Certified Pharmacy Technician Examination to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician, CPhT. Indeed, that is a good prescription for your success.
Pharmacy Technology is being phased out and is pending SACSCOC approval for closure. Students are encouraged to contact their Enrollment Coach for more information.
